JUST HAD TO SHARE: PRETTY LITTLE GIRL EDITION

trinidad - the one thing that's struck me about this island is the level of diversity amongst the people. Its totally mind blowing. Case in point: this lovely young lady. She's the niece of a great fellow I've met out here called ian. We are in car enroute to dinner and I had to snap a photo of her to share with you all. Is it just me or does she need an agent?

TRINI PICS: HI LITES FROM SATURDAYS SHOWS

trinidad - believe it or not, I'm not on vacation! I'm actually here to cover trinidad & tobago fashion week. yesterday was day two of the show and eight designers were shown on the catwalk at the hyatt trinidad - the same place where the summit of the americas took place. I was impressed with the scale of the production - especially for an event only in its second year. the venue was great and was filled to capacity and the energy was certainly electric. The line up of designers was solid. I didn't see anything that broke any boundaries or really distinguished trinidadian fashion from anything i'd see anywhere else, but it was good to see what the island had to offer by way of designers and get a sense of the talent and aesthetic. That said my favorite collection was for a label called the cloth, by robert young. the pieces were simple, straight forward and clearly well made. get into these pics of looks from the cloth and the seven other labels that showed. zandile blay

TRINI PICS: BAKE AND SHARK

trinidad - weeks before I even knew that I was coming to trinidad, I heard about this legendary trini delicacy: bake and shark. what is it? exactly what it sounds like: baked bread and shark meat. Both are lightly fried and served as a sandwich. You personalize it by adding a dressing of your choice. That can range from mango chutney to ketchup to thousand island. Personally? I absolutely loved it. Its one of the best foods I've ever had. I'm going to need to find a spot that serves this once I get back home. Zandile Blay

TRINI PICS: GET INTO WHAT I'M SERVING

trinidad - please get into this red kooey one piece I'm serving. I wanted to give a two piece, but I'm saving that for poolside. I am living for the bright color and deep v neck. Zandile Blay

TRINI PICS: ON THE ROAD TO MARACAS BEACH

trinidad - san franciso, ghana, curacao....there are so many places I've been which have a similar, windy road as the one I'm on right now. Its so tiny and squiggly that I can't believe its meant to be a two lane road. the drivers here are so gangsta and unbothered about it. So wish I shared their gangsta! In anycase get into the roads and the views as we ride up. zandile blay

TRINI PICS: MARACAS LOOKOUT

trinidad - still enroute to maracas beach and we stopped at the maracas lookout to get into the beautiful beach view as well as some amazing trini treats. get into these pics. Zandile Blay

JUST HAD TO SHARE: THE BEST SALMON I EVER HAD

trinidad - yeah, I know it. chances are you don't care what I ate last night. But in true zandile style, I love to share. I ordered this pink beauty from room service and the taste was an absolute scandal. I wish you could taste it. zandile blay

TRINI PICS: LOUNGIN

trinidad - my laptop and loads of work are waiting for me. but I had to sneak down to the infinity pool, not to swim (how dare I get this hair wet!) but to have a chat with god and take pics for my blog! lol! I just took this one. Its 7 a.m. I just hopped out of bed, hopped into my rob and ran here.  keep checking back. loads more coming. zandile blay

THE SWEET SMELL OF WINNING: RESULTS FROM THE FIFI AWARDS

New York - And the award goes too… Fragrance Foundation's 37th annual
awards ceremony was held Wednesday in Manhattan. The star studded
events, with celebrities ( almost all we should mention who have their
own perfumes) like Queen Latifah, Marc Jacobs, Mary J Blige, Sean
"Diddy" Combs, Dustin Hoffman, Ernest Borgnine, Paris Hilton, Hilary
Rhoda, and Kate Walsh were there to walk the red carpet while smelling
(we hope) their very best. Tip from the male stars? Squirtz the neck.
Both Combs and Hoffman smell a woman's neck rather than her wrist.
Combs went on that evening to win his second FiFi for I am King. Marc
Jacobs and Paris Hilton also took home FiFi's to add to their
collection. As far as Jacobs go, I can't wait to get my hands on Marc
Jacobs's newest scent, Lola!  Daisy, Jacobs's first successful perfume
was named after Daisy Buchanan form "The Great Gatsby", coincidence
that I also named my fluffy friend after Gatsby's love? Fate, I think
yes. By the way did I mention that the judging for the FiFi's was at
LIM? One smelly hallway that lead to…

HONESTLY...AMBER ROSE IS....

new york - sort of a style icon....forgive me for this totally gratuitous post which possesses no news value whatsoever. but i couldn't help it.... i saw these pics of her on bossip.com and that's the first thought that popped in my head. i know her back ground as a stripper, i know without kanye's cash all this may not have been possible, i know that it probably all comes down to her hair cut. but either way you slice it....she's bad! zandile blay
