damn, barney's new york really is expensive. the back and forth bidding war between a dubai based firm and a japan based firm for ownership of the new york city landmark/retailer just got even hotter. according to wwd.com, istithmar of dubai just upped the ante by offering$942.3 million in cash - did you get that? cash! -for barney's. now it's up to fast retailing co., the japanese company that owns uniqlo, to holla back. they have until this thursday at 5pmto launch their counter offer. but barney's may not want them to. at this point in the game, they will have to pony up more than $34 million if they back out of the tentative deal with istithmar. blaynista's this is juicier -and more expensive -than an episode of "all my children." oh retail drama!
