paris - so i know you know who maison martin margiela is. ofcourse you do...he is one of the revolutionary belgium designers who got his start in the eighties as part of the antwerp six. dries van noten is one of his contemporaries. in the 90s he was head designer at hermes. in the years since he's taken a very interesting stand with the media - avoiding them. rarely is a photo of his seen and he shuns interviews. all the while, he's been making intellectually stimulating garments that have won critical as well as commercial acclaim. as sarah palin would say - this joe six pack is a true maverick. my good friend omar abdullah was reading an article about margiela in the new york times and forwarded me this photo. brilliant. brilliant too is his latest collection. take a look at my favorite piece from it.
