EVEN CHRISTIAN LACROIX IS FEELING THE CREDIT CRUNCH
paris - honesty, uncle obama: can couture, ready to wear and magazine companies get a government bail out? it's looking very necessary. french newspaper le figaro recently reported that legendary couture house, christian lacroix, has been declared "insolvent." in other words, they can't pay their bills. the company has filed for bankruptcy in order to avoid creditors who are no doubt circling at the gate. nevertheless, nicolas topiol, c.e.o of lacroix, said the house will still show it's ready to wear collection next season and will be a firm presence during couture week in july. zandile blay
