"HAWAII MEETS THE HAMPTONS" IN LANVIN'S RESORT COLLECTION

new york  - lets thank wwd for that fu n title. that sentence was used in their review of lanvin's latest resort collection. it accurately sums up the looks which manage to be chic and...fruity at the same time. in the article, alber elbaz creative director/designer at lanvin says, "it's about the original idea of cruise, a fantasy vacation."......interesting. i can't say i like or don't like it. i think i'm still trying to digest it. i'll revisit this again. in the meantime what is your take?

new york - you know what absolutely turns me on about these looks? a) how strong and structural they are. these are clothes that command attention, even on a leisurely holiday.  b) i love how sparse and minimalist the collection is. there is something powerful about having only five options. you either love it or leave it. kudos boys! zb

miami - if you read this blog regularly, then you already know that i am a chanel enthusiast. partiality aside though, the clothes from the cruise collection were in a word: remarkable. in another word: brilliant. in a simple word? flyyyyyyy.  the only moments were lagerfeld and his amazing design team lost me were: the men's clothing (at times it looked more like lagerfeld mini-me's) and the t-shirts (i get it...but i guess i don't want it.) those hiccups aside, i was blown away both by the elaborate production and the range of looks: 74 in all. ironically, they were not as easy breezy as i would like for a resort, but they certainly addressed the needs of rich vacationers who are on holiday to be seen, and not necessarily to relax.  enough of my commentary! enjoy the pics.

miami - so i am waiting for style.com to upload all the pieces from the show. in the meantime, wwd.com has a few looks on its website, which i have pulled for your viewing pleasure. i can't really form an opinion yet because i haven't seen the collection in entirety, but what i've seen so far is good. i love. 

OSCAR DE LA RENTA RESORT COLLECTION: THE LOOKS THAT STYLISTS WILL LOVE AND MAGAZINES WILL FEATURE

new york - i gotta say, i must really be changing. a mere few months ago, the oscar de la renta resort collection would have bored me to tears. today it makes me tingle with lust. (i must really be getting older and mumsy!) either way, it truly was a fabulous collection.i think it did a good job of staying true to de la renta's roots: dressing rich upper east side women. it was at once demure and lady like, yet still effervescent and youthful. in addition, it's the color palette and fabrics that really set this collection over the top and will make it as editorial (the huge photo shoots you see in fashion magazine's) friendly as any outrageous galliano creation. above are my top picks for what you are bound to see on magazine pages shortly.

miami - i for one am sooooooooooooooo ready for all of the above. the mandarin oriental in miami (according to my friend stephanie of 3lab cosmetics it's the flyest hotel down there) must be buzzing with fashion frockstars! word on the catwalk is the naomi campbell might be walking in the show today. stay tuned for deets. i can't wait to see naomi and i really can't wait to see the clothes - or accessories!

DIOR RESORT COLLECTION: THESE ARE THE LOOKS I PREDICT BUYERS WILL LOVE!

new york - dior's resort collection didn't just reference the past, it was the past. a scan of the entire collection gives you a strong feeling of , say...dallas society, circa 1968. the fabrics are bold, bright yellows, greens and oranges and the silhouettes at once lady like and overtly sexy. i gotta say overall i liked it. but instead of picking my favorite looks, i selected those i think will be big with buyers. by that i mean, these are the looks i predict retailers will select to be sold in their stores. what do you think? do you agree?
