PREDICTABLE? NINA GARCIA LET GO FROM ELLE MAGAZINE

i love this headshot of garcia. now she can shop this photo around for more lucrative opportunities than magazine work. no doubt she already has an agent and a publicist! (timeout.com)

new york - it was reported last week that nina garcia, judge of reality t.v hit show project runway and fashion director had been let go - or fired? - from her position at elle magazine. now today, wwd.com is reporting that elle has offered her the opportunity to stay on as a consultant, in which case she can still remain a judge on the show. no word as to what she has decided. i thought it was super cute that garcia was spinning her popularity on project runway into book deals and spokesperson gigs for t-mobile. but maybe her bosses didn't...

MEDIA MOVES: T GET'S A MAJOR FACE LIFT

so i got this juicy tidbit from fashionweekdaily.com. (where else!?) according to the online pub, the new york times' style bible, t, is getting a major upgrade spearheaded by the publications big boss, stefano pilati. their popular t: beauty and t: living publications are now "reincarnated into new versions of themselves." to be honest, i have no idea what that means. but one thing is clear: maad people got promoted as a result. check out the media moves below (all text courtesy of fashionweekdaily.com):

*Pilar Viladas has been named editor of all four design issues while continuing to contribute to the main Sunday magazine, where she will remain the design editor.

*Amanda Hesser has left her position as editor of the Living issue to take on an increased role in the main Sunday magazine. She will continue to be the editor of the food pages in the back of the book and will oversee a special Food issue of the Sunday magazine that will debut in November.

*Christine Muhlke, formerly the deputy editor of Living (and the acting editor while Hesser was on maternity leave), will now work side by side with Viladas on the new Design & Living issues as deputy editor. This year, she will also edit T: Holiday.

Maura Egan, currently deputy editor of T: Travel, has added the role of editor of the Women’s & Beauty issues, while Kara Jesella has been tapped as a contributing editor.

Horacio Silva, features director of T, has been named the first online director of T on the web, the magazine’s new online presence that will be launched this fall.
