SCARJO GETS A NEW GIG

Multi-national "Fashion Brand", Mango, taps the actress to star in their Fall 2009 Campaign.

los angeles - although mango is one of the largest worldwide purveyors of fast fashion, there's a good chance that you do not know about them. i myself only recently got exposed to them after studying in london - where they have a huge presence - and moving back to new york city, where they recently opened their first store (good job factory pr!!!!). i have to be honest and say that i am somewhat ambivalent about their "fashions." i consider it one of a laundry list of retail stores who charge too much for too little (i.e. creativity, innovation, or plain old quality fabric.) that said, i do adore their ad campaigns. cue - scarlett johansson. the blond bombshell was photographed for he adds earlier this year in los angeles. famed photog mario sorrenti snapped her and damian sanchez, mango's creative director styled her in looks from this season. in a nod to her hollywood background, the spirit of the shoot and silhouette of the clothes evoke hardcore movie glamor. no? johansson follows penelope cruz who also previously served as spokes model for the brand.

Lights! Camera! Costumes!

Gossip Girl continues to rule the world and the fashion industry…

Los Angeles- Dying to see your favorite frock from your favorite small
screen show from the past year? If your in Los Angeles head to my old
stopping grounds, FIDM. The Downtown LA fashion school's 4th Annual Television Costume Design Exhibition is now open. This years exhibit showcases costumes from some of this years top shows. Check out the wardrobe from The Tudors, Gossip Girl, Dancing with the Stars, Project Runway and the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. The exhibit is free and there is an amazing Mediterranean restraint across the street where we would most certainly be chowing down on a hummus wrap in the FIDM public park. The exhibit is open W-Sun from 10 am – 4 pm until September 6th at 919 South Grand Ave LA, CA 90015. Suggestions, don't take pictures.. I got chased out last year!! As a treat for those of you who can't make it there, check out images of the stunning Orange County campus of FIDM.

A VERY HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE TO AMERICAN APPARREL LEGGINGS

www - maybe, this post is exclusively for people like me whose entire wardrobe consists of leggins, tees, and cardigans from american apparel. its not that i love the brand. instead its that i appreciate easy comfort and sultry silhouettes but can't -yet- pony up the cash or more adult lines like norma kamali and donna karan, who work in a much more sophisticated way with jersey. but i digress...my point is, there's another lovely line that is now giving legging lovers like myself options. can you guess which one? members only! i know - i thought the same thing you are thinking. its not just about their bomber jackets any more (which are back on the market.) now its about their poured on liquid leggings and sexy velour leggings. celebs like rihanna, nikki hilton and fergie are already fans. the genius behind the revived interest is former fashion editor kelli delaney who left the editorial world (she was fashion editor at mags like allure, us weekly and glamour) to be creative director of the brand. she's done good. i love this stuff. log on to http://www.membersonlystyle.com/ to see more merch.

los angeles - open relationship/closed relationship/ gay/straight/whatever one wants to say about this duo, at least one thing can be agreed upon: they are immensely stylish.i don't think there's a single red carpet look from either one which i haven't loved to bits.

SO RANDOM & SO SAD: MIGUEL ROCHA AND LISA SANTEE

los angeles - i just spoted this in womens wear daily and it's extremely sad. two designers for seven7jeans (assuming it has no connection to the uber-trendy seven line of denims) were killed may 16th in a car accident. the duo were walking outside the company's headquarters in vernon, california when they were hit head on by a speeding car. miguel rocha died instantly and lisa santee later on in the hospital. they were both 25. i don't know them, but i am their age and i am in the same industry - albeit on a different side of the spectrum. my heart goes out to them/their family. to the left is an image of a pair of seven7jeans. thanks to amazon.com for the pic.

SO KITSON IS KEEPING DVB

posh, presumably in her own label, dvb poses at the launch. (denimiscool.wordpress.com)

los angeles - rumors have been rampant, that popular los angeles boutique kitson was dropping dvb , the clothing label created and designed by victoria beckham. but apparently not. owner, fraser ross, recently said: "...kitson is extremely proud to be selling dvb by victoria beckham. we are fully committed to the dvb collection and our customers and victoria's fans ask for it daily. i've seen next season's collection and i can't wait to get it in store, especially the new dvb men's collection launching this september." so what do you think? something about this comment sounds a touch too effusive. and as with ms. posh herself, i don't know whether to laugh or applaud....
