I WANT THAT JOB: LOGISTICS COORDINATOR AT MARC JACOBS

regine strikes a very pretty pose. we are living for that roland mouret inspired dress and that fierce lipstick!

new york - blaynistas if you are currently in college, please be super nice to your friends. you know why? because one day, they will grow up to be super fly fashionistas working at marc jacobs and living a fabulous life. in fact, it will be so fab, that you will beg them for an exclusive interview on your daily fashion blog. that's exactly what happened to me. i've known ms. regine lahens since the age of 17. even back then, she was a self-assured, elegant young lady and the years have done her well. today she is channelling on that chic into her job at marc jacobs. she sat down with shavon greene, one of my wonderful reporters, to talk style, career, and her burning desire to be a writer.

why does this shot remind us of the juergen teller ads for marc jacobs?

shavone: do you care to give your age?

regine: 25

shavone: where were you born/raised? regine: Brooklyn, NY

shavone: where did you attend school? interned? what led up to your current position?

regine: I graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. I actually wanted (and still want) to be a writer and ended up interning for a boutique PR company with the goal of writing press releases for emerging brands. I ended up hooking up with one of those brands, a shoe company called Detny where I reluctantly fell into the business end of fashion. After 2 years as the Operations Manager for Detny, I was ready to take on a larger name and lucky for me Marc Jacobs snatched me up.

shavone: i understa
nd you are currently a coordinator for Marc Jacobs, which i bet entails many things...please elaborate on your position? what are some daily duties? who do you interact with? how many hours do you work?

regine: I am actually the Logistics Coordinator for Marc Jacobs International so I coordinate (obviously) the global shipping of Marc by Marc Jacobs Ready-to-Wear and Accessories as well as Marc Jacobs Collection Accessories. So, day to day work consists of monitoring the movement of thousands of units a day and hundreds of thousands of units per season. That's just a normal day. During market my team is responsible for getting the samples for the shows, even if it means flying to Italy to get it ourselves. I work closely with the production teams-the girls who get the items you see in stores produced in bulk. Do I get to work with Marc? No, I'm not that lucky but I do get to see him a couple of times a season :)

shavon: what have you learned from working for a major designer like Marc Jacobs?

regine:
Nothing is impossible.

shavon:
working for a designer like Marc Jacobs, i can imagine all the fab clothes...describe your typical outfit for the office.
we love this pose too! this chic gives good face!

regine:
It's a pretty laid back atmosphere but it definitely encourages me to express myself however I want, whether I'm feeling pin-up and I wear a pencil skirt, sweater and platform pumps and bright red lipstick or I'm feeling up to the minute chic with high waisted wide-legged denim trousers, ankle boots and chunky jewelry. It's a great environment for experimenting.

shavone: so besides Mr. Jacobs, who are the designers you have been eyeing lately?

regine:
Proenza Schouler...love it!

shavone:
for someone hoping to model your steps...give me a checklist of 3 do's and don'ts in your field?

regine: 1. Do take advantage of every opportunity given to you. Don't think you're above dirty work...stay humble. 2. Do find a mentor or someone who'll show you the ropes and allow you to pick their brain. Don't be afraid to ask questions 3. Do share your ideas or suggestions in a constructive way. Don't ever take "No" for an answer

shavone
: thank you so much for your time, but I have one more favor: - i heard you were an avid reader of The Blay Report..tell us why you love it!

regine
- Besides being written by my old college comrade, The Blay Report is wittyas well as informative. Whether you're a budding fashionista or a stylesavant, The Report has got you covered.

CHLOE'S NEW MOOD: THE BLAYREPORT INTERVIEWS

new york - at first it was the ysl downtown tote, then it was , now the little bit of luxury we are lusting after comes delicately wrapped with a silver ribbon and rests in a genuine silver plated bottle. it is chloe's new fragrance, appropriately called chloe. we are so obsessed that we tracked down our go-to-girl alana stahl, who is one of our favorites coty prestige, (which markets the fragrance). shavon green sat down for an exclusive q&a with stahl. check it out. (p.s blaynista's, don't you love how we hit the streets to get original interviews for you?)
yes. it smells as good as it looks.
t.b.r describe this new fragrance. if this new fragrance was a woman, how would it be and why?
alana This Fragrance is classic yet very contemporary and reflects the Chloé brand a s a whole. It is a powdery floral which is very beautiful. It is light and fresh with a sensual powdery heart. If this fragrance were a woman it would be a woman in her 20s or 30s who is a Chloé girl(feminine with a modern, trendy and elegant style)
t.b.r is this the first fragrance launch in the chloe family?
alana Chloé launched in 1973 (Floral, Romantic, classic, Timeless) and Chloé Narcisse launched in 1992(Floral Oriental, Sensual, enticing, and alluring)
tbr it has a really sexy and alluring design. how does that reflect the scent?
alana The bottle is a direct reference to the contrast between the feminine romantic clothes and the tough edgy handbags and accessories. The bottle is made with real silver plating and finished with a tied ribbon. There is a vintage touch to the bottle.

THE GOOD, THE BAD + THE FUGLY: CELEB FASHIONS OF 2007

hollywierd - is it past the time to do those annual fashion reviews? well, we'll opt to be fashionably late here on the blay report. our crack reporter shavon s. greene, has compiled a list of what was really good and really hood in 2007. check it out below....
GABRIELLE UNION - always fabulous Gabrielle Union def did it in this dress at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Black tie dinner in DC last October. i never caught her slippin this past year.

(justjared.com)
THE SMITHS - Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith with son Jayden did it again at the Oscars last February. they are truly each other’s best accessories.

KATHERINE HEIGL - i love this girl! she seems to get it right all the time. Katherine Heigl looked like an angel with a dose of sexiness and fierceness. im not the biggest fan of the accessories but she still gets an A+ from me.
LAUREN LONDON - maybe the eye candy of the year Lauren London looked her best in this pink top-tier shaped dress at the BET Awards last June. the shoes: cute. the makeup: flawless. The hair: simple but nice. (and she’s covering up that infamous tattoo). Go girl!

(denimology.com)
MARIAH CAREY - last march the divine ms. m became the new face of pinko, an italian clothing brand. the jacket was a hit. but this the entire look was a miss.

RIHANNA - first, take a moment to thank the woman who brought back the ‘do that everybody was rockin this summer. Rihanna made my personal best dressed list for the 2007 World Music Awards last November. she can may more than an umbrella ‘ella look become the newest and hottest thing.
(people.com)
TARA REID - i guess i’ll start with the bad news. tara reid never looks hot to me and since her body is about to disappear, she may never get a chance. she sort of wore this dress at the cocktail party at Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Carnival in Australia's Gold Coast last January.

(beyonceworld.net)
BEYONCE - as reported on the blayreport, i can’t help but include this look Beyonce wore last December while playing have of Bigga during a shopping spree in Paris, France. She made Mr. Blackwell’s best dressed list and im sure she’s make a spot in 2008. can’t wait!

(juicyscoop.blogspot.com)
BLUE CANTRELL - the singer seems happy to look like a fool in umm…whatever she was wearing at the T-Mobile Sidekick Party last April.

P&B - oh Paris, oh Britney doing the usual: leaving a club last August. need I say more? didn’t think so.

(platformlaunchaction.blogspot.com)

CIARA - Cece def stepped her style game up this past year and her body is amazing. However this Rocawear dress she wore last July on 106&Park was not one of her highlights.

(celebrity4life.com)

FERGIE - i have this love/ hate relationship with Fergie. i think she has the unique sometimes out of place look, but cool. HOWEVER this little number she wore during a concert last May screamed ummm T.R.A.S.H.Y (i still love u Fergie Ferg)
