RUNWAY REVIEW: PARIS SHOWS

blaynista's first forgive me for being inconsistent in the info i provide on the fall 2007 couture shows in paris. as you know the labels we love (chanel, armani, dior, etc.) are all showing in paris right now. below is a highlight of the designers showing today - and some pics of my favorite pieces from their collections. (all images courtesy of style.com!)

ARMANI PRIVE
the designer takes a bow at his show. i realy would date this man.

sparkling shoes, fingerless gloves, and fitting tuxedo jackets littered the runway of the armani prive show. according to sarah mower (love her writing!) on style.com, armani said the inspiration for his show came from none other than david bowie. what a fitting muse. the collection had all the sex, rock and soul of the music legend. there were over 50 looks in this collection. all of them - literally - spectacular, breathtaking and beautiful. my favorite piece from the collection is....

i told you i love color! and this lime green is irresistable!

JOHN PAUL GAULTIER
jpg takes a bow.

wow. is all i can say after taking a look at the legendary gaultier's fall 2007 couture collection. true to form, it was full of "gender-bending" pieces that looked just as good on boys as it does girls - and was modled by both. none of it was anything i thoroughly liked , or would wear. but i appreciate it for what it is: creative, well-constructed, one-of-a-kind pieces. this was couture as it should be. the most wearable piece in the collection to me is above.

RUNWAY REVIEW CONTINUED: ELIE SAAB

ELIE SAAB

the handsome designer takes a bow. i love that he's dressed up too.

halle berry is just one of the many celebs who love this designer. his feminine pieces do justice to a woman's curves. he got a whipping from sarah mower of style.com, who thought his collection was entirely too repetitive. but i bet to differ. i thought each item was absolutely spectacular and unique. overall the entire collection felt and looked very glamorous and retro chic. i won't be surprised to see young - and old - hollywood wearing his pieces during awards season. my favorite piece from his collection was....

metallic colors and a plunging neckline make a great combination for any outfit! (even a confirmation dress, as far as i'm concerned.)
