JUST HAD TO SHARE: PHOTOS FROM SESSILEE LOPEZ' ISLAND VACATION

The stunning Dominican-Portuegese Beauty Posts Pics of Her British Virgin Islands Vacation Online.

british virgin islands - usually blaynistas, candid shots of an amazing beauty on this blog are solely of me. but just this once, i had to share the love. (just kidding...kind of.) take a look at lopez with model boyfriend, wendell lissimore as they enjoy sun, surf, (and we can guess what else) recently. she alluded to the vacay in her recent interview with w-magazine. see an excerpt from it below.

You just got back from vacation. Where were you?

I was in the Virgin Islands with my boyfriend, [model] Wendell Lissimore. We did a lot of water sports, which is pretty odd for us because we're both city people who only like to stay dry or hang out in the pool. But we went kayaking and parasailing quite a lot.

What else have you been up to this summer?

I live uptown in Harlem, so I go to the Met with my sister to see as many exhibitions as I can. But there's a good chance you'll find me at Six Flags on the weekends. I love roller coasters – anything that gets my heart racing. That's my therapy.

What else do you do to unwind?

I cook. I just made a pepper steak, rice and beans for Wendell the other night. I grew up watching my grandmother cook and she can make anything taste good. So I try to apply what she does. I'm also getting into baking, but I think that might be dangerous for my career.

Of the shows you've walked, which has been your favorite?

Karl Lagerfeld fall 09. I love Karl; he has a special place in my heart. He let me keep the shoes from this past season. It was a pair of ankle boots with an X on the back, and all the girls were going crazy over them. But I was the only one who got to keep them.

What's your dream show?

Chanel! I would just die. The clothes are so classic, and it's every girl's dream. I also really like Balenciaga because it's more my style and edgy. The pieces are very detailed; it's like walking art. I would be ecstatic to do those shows this season, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Your career highlight so far?

The Black Issue for Italian Vogue. When I was at Pier 59 shooting with Steven [Meisel], I had no idea what it was for. Once I saw all the other girls, I was like, "Holy cow! I can't believe I'm going to be a part of this." It still amazes me that he put me on the cover. A lot of people just saw me as the new Grace Jones, but Steven's story was 30 pages of different characters, so that helped me show my versatility. My career exploded.

Who is your model inspiration?

Definitely Tyra [Banks]; I would love to benchmark myself after her. She went from being a pretty face to a mogul. It would be great to follow in her footsteps.

Tell us about the Kanye West "Flashing Lights" video you starred in.

It was a really cool and creepy video because we filmed in an abandoned Nazi military camp in Berlin. There was no electricity and heat, and the shoot lasted for hours, but I loved doing it.

What was Kanye like?

He had a lot of input in every decision. During the fitting he hated everything, so later on that night I got a call at my hotel saying, "Hey, Kanye's downstairs. You guys are going shopping right now." So we went out and got a lot of dark, flowy dresses and crazy tall shoes. He's definitely hands-on.

After that experience, did you consider acting?

I'm taking lessons right now with Susan Batson who's worked with everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Nicole Kidman. It's really exciting. I don't want to jump into anything, because I want to do it by the book. But it's definitely in my future.

JUST HAD TO SHARE: VIDEO FOR ADIDAS SLVR LABEL COLLECTION

www - so this video highlights the fall 2009/ winter 2010 collection for adidas slvr. its definitely on the artsy/abstract side. if you can rock with that - then you'll love this. personally, i like the concept of higlighting clothes this way. but the old school in me is still going to need a look book, catalog or old fashioned market appointment to get into these clothes.

NOT FASHION: DARK END OF THE STREET BY RY COODER

www - just because i'm going youtube mad this morning, i thought i'd share one of my absolute favorite songs with you: "the dark end of the street." i first heard it sung by percy sledge when i was very young, about eight years old. it reminds me of so many things from my childhood....well one thing in particular really, but we'll have to discuss that one over drinks and perhaps an twelve ounce rib eye. but i digress...i listen to this song almost daily and recently stumbled upon an absolutely sublime version. the three person, all male ensemble did absolute justice to this tune. their teeth though? not so much. so please, don't focus on it. just close your eyes, listen to the song and every once in a while take a peek at their fly seventies era gear.

JUST HAD TO SHARE: NAOMI & VLADIMIR

ibiza, spain - yeah, i'm obsessed. i live for this super model, naomi campbell and her super rich boo, vladimir. the extra long weave, the extra long money, the extra-ness of it all. but really, i swear, it's not the looks or the money that seduces me, but the genuine love i see shinning like a halo around this duo. just wanted to share these recent snaps of them from frolicking on the beach in ibiza. zandile blay

JUST ASKING: WHO LIKES THE ROW?

online - i was browsing though the latest issue of vogue china (kate moss on the cover = fierce!) and came across a gown by the row. as you may already know, the row is a label launched by millionaire (or billionaire?) twins, mary kate and ashley olsen. seeing the line credited in vogue china just prompted me to look up whats new with the collection. i found a good number of pieces from this label online at barneys.com. they all look painfully basic (exact replicas of the black skinny pants and peter shirt can be bought for a fraction of a fraction of the price at uniqlo) but somehow the pieces seem unique. the clothes have an air of being simply designed and exceedingly well-made. i've actually never seen the garments in person, yet i get the sense that they are the kinds of clothes one keeps for ages. in anycase, just pulled some photos of my favorite pieces from their spring collection.

Guess Which Fashion Writer Is Doing A College Speaking Engagement?

london - if you guessed me, you guessed right! it's official. i am doing my first (well really my second) college speaking engagement. it is free and open to the public and takes place at quinnipiac college on october 13th. i am also doing a radio appearance that morning. blaynistas in the connecticut area please come. would be great to meet you in person. check out the announcement here. i feel proud of myself on this one. :-) (p.s don't you love how i bust out the old headshot knowing i look NOTHING like that now with my shaved head? i may pop on a lace front for these young kids so they can appreciate me in all my 32 inch spanish deep wave glory.)

JUST HAD TO SHARE: SCENE OUTSIDE HENRY HOLLAND SHOW TODAY

london - i actually didn't make it into the show. i had an invitation and seating and everything. but my camera died midway and i simply couldn't stand the possibility of seeing celebs and beautiful clothing and not being able to capture for you guys, so i chose to leave. i guess its all or nothing at all for this fashion blogger huh? i sorta regret that dumb move after seeing how amazing the clothes were.

JUST HAD TO SHARE: LONDON'S VERSION OF "THE TENTS

london - this is the scene outside london fashion week. its no where near as crazy and frenzied as new york. at most i think i see maybe twenty people outside staring - and that's a lot. here's where i check in every single day to scout stories and fashionable people. it feels much more professional in the sense that there aren't a ton of gawkers or if people do look, they keep it moving. its cool, but there's nothing like the rockstar vibe of ny fashion week though.

TYSON BECKFORD HANGS (IT ALL) OUT WITH FASHIONISTAS IN AUSTRALIA

sydney - tyson beckford gave us all a glimpse of what's down under, while he was down under in australia this past weekend. marie claire magazine hosted a cocktail party in sydney featuring tyson. of course, that doesn't explain the crotch nudity. but honestly, what could?

QUESTION: HAS GRACE JONES AGED GRACEFULLY?

ireland - as my lil cousin, nana, put it: "grace jones' is doing all this in ireland of all place!?" yes! in ireland and at a music festival that took place this past weekend. it's so easy to take cheap shots at her, but at the age of 60 - i love that she's still taking risks and being herself. i love it.

CHECK OUT THE NEW "JANELLE" SANDAL FROM ROCAWEAR

new york - there's a super cute story behind this shoe. my good friend, janelle grimmond of vibe magazine, attended a market appointment (i.e. when editors go check clothes and accessories out) at rocawear. she spotted these super cute lace up sandals and wanted to learn more about them. unfortunately, they were on the chop block: rocawear did not think that the shoes would sell well so planned on discontinuing it. however, after seeing janelle's interest in the shoe, the decided to reconsider and have now placed it back in the product line and named it after her. kudos! okay, so cute story aside - do you think this is fashionable or fugly!? please keep it real.

OHMYGAH!!! SOLANGE ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD

usa - i have tried hard, but i swear: there is NOTHING to critique about solange in this photo. from hair, to skin, to body to dress - she is flawless! i see that she is working over time to get her glam and celeb game on point and i respect it. ten (monopoly) dollars to anyone who can find something to hate in her look.

JUST HAD TO SHARE: A BRANGELINA CLASSIC FROM W MAGAZINE

worldwide - so i am trolling for news on w magazine's websites and came across these classique photos. these were taken by mr. steve klein before anything officially popped off with these two mega stars. the buzzworthy spread, ( i remember everybody was talking about it!) was featured TWO YEARS ago in the july 2005 issue of w magazine. like i've said before a. jolie doesn't move me in anyway , although brad pitt and these pictures do. enjoy!

FASHIONISTA.COM, IT'S NOT JUST YOU...

(fashionista.com)

new york - fashionista.com posted this photo on their website yesterday. to the everyday ("normal") person, it's a collection of super heroes. but to fashion fiends, it is clearly a prelude to the costume institute's upcoming ball/exhibit on super hero style in fashion. clearly....

JUST HAD TO SHARE: LIYA KEBEDE IN THE NEW YORK TIMES

new york - i spotted this wonderful shoot on makefetchhappen.blogspot.com. i gotta say, i love the styling and photography, done by fabien baron. i didn't realize exactly how versatile kebede is as a model.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TODAY IS? IT'S POSH SPICE' BIRTHDAY

she's come a long way hasn't she? now i ask you my dear reader, what do you think accounts for the changes in her face? age, weight loss, or plastic surgery? i say it's the first two. her features are more or less the same.

worldwide - now, if i know my readers like i think i do, i am assuming you don't necessarily care that it's victoria beckham's birthday. but just for kicks' i thought i would remind you this this aspiring internatinal fashionista (i sooo love the effort she puts forth, even if her style looks forced) has turned 34 today!
