New York - Headphones were never on my list of things that Lady Gaga would go for if given the chance to get into designing, but they are indeed her latest creative project. So ladies and gents, I give you Heartbeats by Lady Gaga, the singer's collaboration with her label, Interscope, and Monster, a maker of stereo equipment or accessory items. But get this, Ms. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta's headphones (yes that is her full name, Blaynistas, isn't it amazing?) aren't the kind of headphones you normally see in stores. The "high resolution" Heartbeats are designed in reflective, triangle-shaped headphones which come in red, black, and chrome. Gaga explained, "I've been obsessing over triangles on tour, and we've made lots of clothing and stage sets out of triangles. I was also reminded of these studded leather jackets that my friends and I wore in New York, so it's really a complete representation of who I am." I couldn't expect anything less from the woman who wore Kermit the frog once upon a time for an interview. Gaga was in New York on Wednesday, Sept. 30, for the launch of her Heartbeat headphones. And yes, that is Dr. Dre on her right, looking half-dazed and half-amused with all of this Gaga hoopla. In all seriousness, Dr. Dre (full name is Andre Romelle Young for those who wanted to know) was there to help introduce the latest addition to his Beats headphones family from Monster, which also happened to be Gaga's Heartbeats headphones. Awww, well that was sweet of him. The headphones are available in Best Buy on Oct. 18, and here is a closer look of Heartbeats by Lady Gaga:
In other Gaga news, the pop singer was honored by Billboard with the Rising Star award at its annual Women in Music luncheon held at New York's Pierre Hotel on Friday, Oct. 2. "I didn't expect to be accepted into the pop community like I have," Gaga said in her thank you speech. "With help from radio program directors, the gay community, fans and people like Billboard we had a remarkable year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." The singer had to share the spotlight with another female artist named Beyonce. While Lady G was given the Rising Star award, Queen Bey was honored with the Woman of the Year award. Both ladies dressed the way you expected them to dress like: Beyonce was stylishly put together and Gaga was, well, Gaga. I can't think of any other female singers who deserve each award so congratulations to Lady Gaga and Beyonce.
