paris - i don't know about you but it always turns me on (in a totally non-sexual way ofcourse) when i read of fashion's greats earning honors usually reserved for professionals from the sciences or politics or military. it proves to me that fashion is indeed not supericial or frivilous but a weighty endeavor that touches us all. okay enough with my pontificating. sonia rykiel (top, left, with her daughter. she is one of my favorite designers by the way, i know i don't blog much about her. but i love her down) has been given france's legion of honor. this means that she's been elevated to the rank of grand commander. it's a fitting tribute for a woman who is now celebrating 40 years in the industry. kudos.
