DEREK LAM'S SPRING 2010 COLLECTION BURST WITH COLORSInspired by American summertime the designer's show had us missing for those hot summer days.New York - Derek Lam looked to American boardwalks and east coast beach retreats for inspiration, which could only mean that we'll be seeing a lot of beachwear-inspired pieces in vibrant colors in his spring line. The designer does just that as he switches from his usual earthy-colored shows to an abundance use of colors for his Spring 2010 collection. Lam felt the switch was "the right moment now" to do it, and we couldn't agree more with him as his beachwear-inspired pieces in all shades of aqua blue, green, yellow, red and violet had us longing for those days laying under the sun by the pool. Star motifs and floral were the two prints used mostly in his collection, which Lam says the star motifs are an ode to American summertime. His collection includes high-waisted skirts and mini dresses in mostly halter and plunging necklines, start printed blouses, and "deck-side" one piece suits, which all just scream "Is summer here yet?" And to think Autumn hasn't even fully begun. Oh Mr. Lam, you sure know how to have us wanting your pieces right now.
