new york - really though? in case you aren't familiar with it: fashion's night out is a multinational offensive launched - allegedly - by vogue america's editirix anna wintour. the point and purpose of this large scale event is to to simaltaneously host dozens - if not hundreds - of parties in each city. from a cafe in the catherine malandrino store to an exhibit helmed by grace coddington at prada, the events are meant to attract fashion industry professionals and consumers alike. at the end of the night the expectation is lots of camradrie and hopefully lots of cash as people pony up to buy products.
but as gawker.com reports on their site today, "one night" won't help fashion or boost the lagging retail industry. what it will do - and has already - is raise wintour's profile to new heights. there have been no mentions of discounts so far, and i predict that it will achieve more gawking than shopping. but either way, fun times should be had by all.
to further outline the importance of fashion , and more to the point, fashions night out - the powers that be have put together this psa. check it out. thoughts?
